DOUGLAS FIR
One of the most popular Canadian softwood species, and has a distinctive pinkish-brown colour and grain. Douglas fir has all the desirable characteristics necessary for construction: stiffness, strength, density, and natural durability. It is used extensively for structural construction, and is also popular for heavy timber construction, as well as industrial uses, such as, windows, doors, and joinery.

HEMLOCK
Hemlock is light in colour with a reddish-brown tinge. It has a straigth, even grain with a medium-fine texture. The wood fiber has high strength, stiffness and density, which makes it ideal for most structural and industrial uses from framing lumber to heavy timberst to engineered componants. Also, Hemlock is easily pressure treated, and thus, is a the preferred choice where preservative-treated wood is required.

SITKA SPRUCE
This wood is light in weight and colour with relatively high strength. The structural grades of Stika Spruce are commonly used for general construction. The higher grades are used for musical instruments, specialty marine applications, and industrial equipment.

SPRUCE-PINE-FIR
SPF is light in colour, ranging from cream to yellow, and is straight grained with a fine and uniform texture. This species is light in weight and of medium strength. The lumber is often used in structural construction and framing.

A very unique species because of its stability, light weight, and high natural durability. The colour is usually reddish-brown, but can vary from white to a dark brown. Western Red Cedar is excellent for exterior applications such as, siding, decking, fencing, windows, doors, roofs, and landscaping. The is the species of choice when appearance is a prime consideration, and is also a popular choice for interior decorating.

YELLOW CEDAR
Yellow Cedar lumber is pale yellow in colour, non-resinous, and has a very fine texture, which gives it excellent machining properties. It has a high density, strength, and stiffness, but also possesses the high natural durability and stability. These characteristics make it a choice material for many appearance and structural applications.
